Dermatologist. Head of our Department for Prevention and Early Diagnosis of Melanoma. Dr. Pizarro was a pioneer in Spain in the implementation of digital dermoscopy for monitoring patients at risk of melanoma. He strongly believes that prevention is the best treatment of melanoma. Author of 64 publications in Spanish and 45 in English, mostly on basic aspects of clinical cancer, with emphasis on skin cancer, melanoma and dermoscopy, collected from other scientific journals in the Journal of Cell Biology, American Journal of Pathology, British Journal of Cancer, European Journal of Cancer, British Journal of Dermatology and Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. Co-author of various books, with highlights being his participation in Principles of Dermoscopy (Malvehy J, Puig S, editors, 2002 and 2009), and Melanoma (Gonzalez-Baron M, Ordoñez A, editors, 1998). More than 50 presentations as guest speaker in courses and conferences about skin cancer and melanoma. Dr Pizarro has been invited as Guess-Professor to several Basic and Advanced courses of dermoscopy (Hospital Clínic, Barcelona). Professor and Director of an Introduction to Dermoscopy (2012, Instituto de Salud Carlos III-Escuela Nacional de Medicina del Trabajo).
