William L. Kimsey, a member of Accenture's board of directors since November 2003, was formerly chief executive officer of Ernst & Young Global, a position he held from 1998 until his retirement from the company in 2002. During his tenure as CEO, he oversaw the realignment of the firm's structure, strategy and performance measurement worldwide. Mr. Kimsey joined Ernst & Young (then known as Arthur Young) as a staff accountant in 1964 and became a partner in 1978. Among the many positions he held during his 32 years with the firm in addition to CEO were deputy chairman and chief operating officer; vice chairman and West Region managing partner; vice chairman and Southwest Region managing partner; managing partner of the Kansas City office; and director of management consulting in the St. Louis office. Mr. Kimsey's experience in the public sector includes serving as director of Budgets & Accounting Systems for the Kansas City, Missouri, public schools and as director of Revenue & Administration for Jackson County, Missouri. Mr. Kimsey earned a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri in 1964. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition to serving on Accenture's board of directors, Mr. Kimsey also serves on the board of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and formerly on the boards of NAVTEQ Corporation and Western Digital Corporation.
