Dr. Wayne I. Lencer, M.D., has been the Chief of Division for Gastroenterology/Nutrition of The Children's Hospital Corporation since August 21, 2015. Dr. Lencer serves as Clinical Advisor of Protagonist Therapeutics, Inc. He is Co-Founder of Biogen Hemophilia Inc. and serves as its Scientific Advisor. Dr. Lencer is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School where his laboratory focuses on epithelial cell biology. He is also Director of the Combined Program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and Co-Director of the Harvard Digestive Diseases Center. Dr. Lencer serves as Division Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children's Hospital Boston. Dr. Lencer received the Samuel Meltzer award for basic research in gastroenterology and is an elected member of the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He has published over 55 refereed scientific articles. His laboratory studies the cell and molecular biology of vesicular transport in polarized epithelial cells and regulation of ion transport in the intestine. A new project examines the mechanisms of protein retro-translocation from ER to cytosol. Dr. Lencer's work in each of these areas has led to over 14 patent awards. Dr. Lencer received a B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.D. from Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Wayne I.
