Dr. Gupta, is an expert in integrin biology and is currently Professor and Vice Chair for Research and Innovation in the Department of Internal Medicine, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL and Director of Drug Discovery Center. Dr. Gupta received his MS in Chemistry from IIT Delhi, India, his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY and did post-doctoral training at the Rockefeller University, NY and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.   Adhaere's core technology was developed in and licensed from Dr. Gupta's laboratory, initially at Massachesetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he was an Assistant Professor of Medicine. His laboratory was one of the first to describe a novel mechanism for regulating leukocyte activation and recruitment via a completely novel, counter-intuitive mechanism of pharmacological integrin activation.
