Vasileios Rizos is a Research Fellow at CEPS and an expert in various aspects of the circular economy. Prior to joining CEPS, Vasileios was a Project Officer at the Confederation of European Paper Industries where he worked, among others, on producer responsibility schemes for paper recycling in Europe. He has also worked as a trainee at the DG Environment of the European Commission where he dealt with the implementation of the Waste Framework Directive and the use of economic instruments for improving resource efficiency across the EU. Vasileios Rizos joined CEPS’ Energy and Climate Change Unit in February 2013. His main research areas at CEPS include circular economy, industrial sustainability, green value chains, low-carbon transport and resource efficiency indicators. Vasileios has extensive experience in analysing the regulatory and market barriers and enablers to the adoption of circular economy strategies by EU businesses.
