Stefan Kaufmann was born on 24 January 1968 in Frankfurt, Germany. Between 1990 and 1993 he combined his studies at a College of Applied Sciences (Diplom Betriebswirt BA) with practical training at the Augsburg branch of Karstadt department stores, and further studies in the German town of Heidenheim an der Brenz. Professional Career Stefan Kaufmann started working for the Karstadt chain of German department stores in 1990. In 2000 he moved to Thomas Cook to take up the role of Head of Corporate Human Resources Development. He joined Olympus in 2003 as the General Manager of Human Resources and became Managing Director of the Corporate Division in 2008. In this role he is responsible for the Corporate functions Finance & Controlling, Quality Management, Supply Chain & Process Management, Information Systems, Corporate Communications and Human Resources. In addition to this role Stefan Kaufmann was Regional Managing Director for Central Eastern Europe between January 2010 and November 2011. Stefan Kaufmann was appointed Executive Managing Director of Olympus Europa SE & CO.
