Sarah joined the Global Plant Council as a New Media Fellow in April 2015 and now works as the Communications Officer, responsible for managing the blog and promoting and supporting the activities of the Council. Sarah gained a PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Bristol, UK, in 2016. During the course of her studies, she began working as a freelance science writer, editor, and communicator, and transitioned into a career in science communications upon graduation. Sarah also spent a month's internship at the journal New Phytologist, where she developed a better understanding of science publishing and the wider plant science community. As an undergraduate student at Cardiff University, Sarah spent a one-year work placement in the labs of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Sarah is a member of the Society for Experimental Biology, the Royal Society of Biology, and the European Association of Science Editors.
