Biography

 Sandra (Sandi) E. Peterson is Group Worldwide Chair for Johnson & Johnson, the world’s largest healthcare company. Her portfolio includes the company’s global supply chain, technology and operating infrastructure, as well as multiple consumer-facing and Medical Device businesses and key enterprise initiatives designed to spur innovation and accelerate growth. Sandi is responsible for the Supply Chain, Quality, Information Technology, and Design across the enterprise. She is driving the creation of a new global operating model and co-leading the effort to standardize Finance, Human Resources and Procurement and save over $1 billion. Sandi is at the forefront of Johnson & Johnson’s efforts to transform healthcare using technology and design-thinking to leverage its unique assets in innovative ways to create breakthrough solutions. This includes Johnson & Johnson Health & Wellness Solutions, an organization which develops holistic wellness, behavioral health, and chronic disease management solutions that improve health and financial outcomes.

Research Intrest

 She is also responsible for Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Device businesses, which generate approximately $40 billion in revenue and includes surgical, orthopaedics and interventional solutions vital to healthcare systems and providers worldwide. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Sandi was Chairman & CEO of Bayer CropScience AG in Germany. She had previously served as CEO of Bayer Medical Care and president of Bayer HealthCare AG’s Diabetes Care Division. Earlier, Sandi held leadership roles at Medco Health Solutions (previously known as Merck-Medco), Nabisco, Whirlpool Corporation and McKinsey and Company, Inc. Sandi holds a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.P.A. from Princeton University. She is a member of the board of directors of Microsoft, and formerly on the board of directors of The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation where she chaired the Innovation & Technology Committee. Sandi was a founding member of Women Corporate Directors. She is a member of Women’s Forum and C200. She serves on the Rutberg & Company Wireless Influencers 2015 Board of Advisors, and the International Advisory Board of the Center for the Advanced Study of India, University of Pennsylvania. Sandi is a member of the Board of Trustees, Institute for Advanced Study, one of the world’s leading centers for theoretical research and intellectual inquiry, and The American Academy in Berlin, a research and cultural institution focused on fostering a greater understanding and dialogue between citizens of the U.S. and Germany. She was also Chairman of the Board of EcoHealth Alliance. Sandi has been named to Fortune magazine’s list of The Most Powerful Women multiple times.
