Romney M. Humphries, Ph.D., D(ABMM), is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is the Section Chief for Clinical Microbiology at the UCLA Health and Chief Quality Officer for the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Romney received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Lethbridge, Canada. She completed her PhD in bacterial pathogenesis at the University of Calgary, Canada and a CPEP fellowship in Medical and Public Health Microbiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Romney’s research focus is the detection and characterization of emerging antimicrobial resistance in bacteria, and the development of next generation diagnostic technologies.
