With 30 years of professional experience, Paulo Gomes graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico, in 1985. He began his professional activity at that same year, at Consulplano. In 1992 he assumed the leadership of the Roads Division and, in 1995 became Technical Director of that same department. At this time, he became responsible for several highway and motorway projects, including three A9 (CREL) sections – Queluz/Belas/Caneças/Loures. In 1997 he established VIAPONTE, accumulating the functions of Board Director and Technical Director with the responsibility for the Transport Infrastructure area and, in 2007, he assumed responsibility the entire company’s technical performance. Paulo has particular expertise in Coordination and Design Management for Technical Proposals of several Motorway Concession tenders, a total of over 3000 km, and the subsequent project Coordination and Design Management for seven granted concessions with a total length of 1300 km. In the Roads Sector, he has also been responsible for the coordination of numerous other projects of roads and highways, not only in Portugal but also abroad. In 2001, with VIAPONTE’s entrance in the rail sector, Paulo has also developed his experience in this area, including the coordination of design of a section of high-speed line between Lisbon and Porto, the section of the Modernization of Northern Line between Azambuja and Vale de Santarém and also the Porto Metro P Line between Custóias and Póvoa do Varzim. Paulo Gomes is a specialist member in Transport Infrastructure of the Portuguese Enginners Association.
