Biography

Ludwig Cancer Research is a global community of leading scientists pursuing innovative ways to prevent and control cancer. From basic research to clinical trials, in individual laboratories or as part of international teams, our researchers are tackling the hardest questions, spotting the connections and the possibilities. At Ludwig, we test our work against the one measure that matters — improving human health. Research Intrest

I am a molecular biochemist with a special interest in how the host microenvironment, which undergoes a massive remodeling in response to signals derived from both malignant and host cells, determines the invasive outcome of breast cancer cells. Over the years, I have published more than 60 scientific papers and book chapters. I have been Section Editor on Glycobiology in the DeGruyter book Extracellular Matrix: Pathobiology and Signaling and co-Editor for Advances in Cancer Research (Elsevier). In addition to my Ludwig research appointment, I coordinate a student exchange program between Uppsala University and Yamagata University in Japan. I also organize and teach Cell Signaling for graduate students at Uppsala University. I regularly review national and international grants and academic positions. Education PhD, Medical and Physiological Chemistry, Uppsala University, 1987 BSci exam (Chemistry/Biochemistry, Mathematics), Uppsala University, 1979 Achievements Appointed Docent in Medical and Physiological Chemistry, 1994 Scholarship from the Göran Gustafsson Foundation,1997 Adjunct Lecturer at Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology, Uppsala University, 2001 Grant Award from Mizoutani Foundation for Glycoscience, 2007 Adjunct Professor in Matrix Biology at Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology, Uppsala University, 2013
