Moataz Karmalawy is the Vice President and General Manager world wide of Varian's Particle Therapy business. He joined the company in 2007. Prior to joining Varian, Dr. Karmalawy held a variety of management positions with Philips Medical Systems, including Vice President for Research and Development, Vice President of Operations, and Vice President of strategic Research and Development. He has directed successful product launches in the Cardiology and General Nuclear Medicine market segments, including PET, SPECT, PET-CT, and diagnostic SPECT/CT imaging. Dr. Karmalawy holds a M.A.Sc and a PhD in Engineering, as well as an MBA from Concordia University and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He also holds a number of patents and has published in major technical journals.
