Michael O. Wilkinson, also known as Mike, Ph.D. has been the Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President of Pharmaceutical Product Development Inc. since June 30, 2010. Prior to that, Dr. Wilkinson served as an Executive Vice President of Global Clinical Development of Pharmaceutical Product Development Inc., since April 2008. Dr. Wilkinson provides strategic leadership to Pharmaceutical Product Development's Phase II-IV operations in North America; Latin America; Europe, Middle East and Africa; and Asia Pacific. He served as Global Head of internal medicine and Vice President of project management for another contract research organization. His responsibilities included global operational and financial oversight and accountability for all internal medicine clinical trials. Dr. Wilkinson also served as Clinical Development Project Management Practice Leader at a pharmaceutical consulting organization. Prior to joining the biopharmaceutical industry eight years ago, Dr. Wilkinson spent 27 years in the U.S. military where he began his career and served as Navy SEAL. He served as Aviation Physiologist, White House Liaison Officer of Marine One Executive Transport, Director of operations for the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center and Project Director of V-22 Osprey military aircraft. Dr. Wilkinson earned a doctorate in Physiological Optics from Indiana University, a Master's degree from Penn State University and a Bachelor's from Ohio University.
