Massimo received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2006 and a Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate from the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University, CA in 2010. He has 10 years of research experience on microelectronics and microsystems for life science applications with 30 publications appeared on international scientific journals, such as the Technology Review Magazine from MIT. He is inventor of 4 patent families in the fields of microtechnologies for cell manipulation and innovative methods for drug discovery. In 2009, after developing a business idea based on the technology currently under development at Cellply, he obtained a grant (1st rank) from the Fulbright Commission for a period of study and work in Silicon Valley. In 2011 he co-founded the Italian Institute for Entrepreneurship, a no-profit organization promoting initiatives for the growth of an entrepreneurship-based ecosystem in Italy.
