Martin Storr is a Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada (CCFC), funded Physician Researcher and member of the Gastrointestinal Research Group GIRG at the University of Calgary, Alberta,Canada. Martin Storr trained in Munich, Germany, and is a specialist in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. There he received his MD in 1996 at the Technical University of Munich. He received PhD and his venia legendi in 2005 at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. Since 2006, he is a member of the Department of Medicine, the Calvin, Phoebe Joan Snyder Institute of Infection, Immunity Inflammation and the Calgary Institute for Population and Public Health. His research includes basic and clinical research and focuses on topics in Neurogastroenterology. Clinical trials in the field of Gastroenterology include participation in multicenter trials as well as Investigator Initiated Trials IIT. In 2009, he was awarded with the prestigious Basic Science Award of the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders IFFGD and in 2005, he received the Werner Creutzfeld Award for Gastrointestinal Physiology of the German Society of Digestive Diseases. He is presently serving as an editorial board member of 6 reputed journals and is a reviewer of all major journals in the field of Gastroenterology.He published more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in the field of Gastroenterology and is regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings
Dr. Martin Storr′s basic research interests are to understand the regulatory role of the cannabinoid and the opioid systems in the control of gastrointestinal function and their potential use as future therapeutics in functional gastrointestinal disorders.
