Skills and experience Mark Mallon is a member of AstraZeneca’s senior executive team and leads the strategic functions, Global Product & Portfolio Strategy (GPPS), Global Medical Affairs (GMA), and Corporate Affairs (CA). These functions integrate corporate, therapy area and product strategies to act as a bridge between scientific development and commercial excellence. Mark is also the senior sponsor for AstraZeneca’s Healthy Heart Africa initiative, which aims to reach 10 million hypertensive patients across Africa in the next ten years. Since joining AstraZeneca in 1994, Mark has held a number of senior sales and marketing roles, including Regional Vice-President for Asia Pacific, President of AstraZeneca China, Chief Operating Officer for AstraZeneca in Japan, President of AstraZeneca Italy, and Vice-President, US GI and Respiratory Therapy Areas. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for Christiana Care, the largest hospital system in Delaware, and an Executive Committee Member for RDPAC, the China industry association for innovative pharmaceutical companies. Mark started his career in the biopharmaceutical industry in management consulting. He has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in marketing and finance from the Wharton School of Business.
