Mark started his professional career at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne as a pharmacist before entering academia to teach Pharmacy undergraduate students. During this time Mark obtained his Master of Pharmacy degree. Mark moved to Sydney in 1988 to work for Bayer, later becoming Regulatory Affairs Manager for RousselUclaf, Scientific Affairs Director for Hoechst Marion Roussel and then Health Economics/Regulatory Affairs Director for Aventis (now Sanofi).
