Maria-Barton is a Senior Vice President and was appointed the General Counsel and Executive Committee member of Purdue Pharma in February 2017. Prior to joining Purdue in April 2016, Barton worked at Latham & Watkins in New York, where she was a Litigation Partner, representing clients in diverse industries. Barton served for more than 11 years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York. In this role, she investigated and prosecuted federal criminal cases involving white collar fraud, tax schemes, money laundering, racketeering, public corruption and narcotics trafficking. She has tried a dozen felony cases and received the Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance on three occasions.
