Mr. Manuel Ochoa is a Mexico business development specialist that has recently joined the Tecma Group of Companies as the company’s vice president of business development. Prior to joining Tecma, Manuel served as vice president for bi-national development with the El Paso Regional Economic Development Corporation/Borderplex Alliance. REDCO/Borderplex Alliance is a private non–profit corporation that provides professional services to business and industry interested in relocating or expanding their operations to the Greater El Paso, Texas, Ciudad Juarez and Southern N.M. area. He had held that position since 2004. He held a similar position with the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce since 1994. Mr. Ochoa has over twenty years of experience in the international trade arena, with primary focus on Mexico. In the positions which he held Mr. Ochoa was responsible for providing assistance and support to companies with interest in bi-national trade (US-Mexico), building strategic alliances and developing partnerships with other organizations in Mexico. He is versed in the contents of the NAFTA. As a Mexico business development specialist he has assisted many U.S. and international businesses interested in trade and manufacturing in Mexico. Mr. Ochoa served as the Chamber of Commerce’s primary contact with the maquiladora industry in Ciudad Juarez. Manuel served as Vice President of the National Chamber of Manufacturers in Mexico (CANACINTRA) for 10 years and on the Board of Directors of the Juarez Economic Development organization. He served as coordinator of the Camino Real Economic Alliance Initiative, a bi-national collaboration of public and private sector organizations along the historic Camino Real Corridor from Chihuahua City to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Before joining the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ochoa was President & CEO of the Juarez, Mexico Chamber of Commerce. He was deputy General Director of Public Services and Director of Materials with the City of Juarez. He also worked with AVON Cosmetics in Mexico City as a coordinator of New Products Development, Supplier Development and Purchasing Manager. Manuel attended the National University of Mexico where he received his bachelor degree in Chemistry. He also holds two master’s degrees, in Business Administration from the UNAM (National University in Mexico) and Environmental Engineering from the University in Juarez (UACJ).
