Luc Maene has served on the Board of Directors since June 2016. Luc Maene was born in 1946. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Gent with a degree in Agricultural Engineering and Soil Science. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Belgian Administration for Development Cooperation (ABOS/AGCD) and was stationed first in Tunisia and then in Malaysia, lecturing in soil science and conducting research in this subject. In 1980, he returned to Belgium and conducted project evaluation for ABOS/AGCD. In 1981, he joined the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as Project Leader of the Fertilizer Advisory, Development and Information Network for Asia and the Pacific (FADINAP), based in Bangkok, Thailand.
