Liezl joined SSH in 2013 as an Associate Director of healthcare in the South Africa office. Liezl has extensive experience of demanding, large-scale healthcare projects in Europe, North America, the Middle- and Far East. Liezl is instrumental in preparing industry leading healthcare tender proposals for SSH. Liezl has 12 years of experience in healthcare facility planning and design with an in-depth knowledge of: fee, resource and project programming, 1:50 functional layouts and the management of complex buildings utilising CodeBook and ADB software. Liezl has a keen interest in research and evidence-based design principles including advancements in healthcare design in the BIM environment. This forms an important part of her design approach and philosophy with the focus on the end-user experience, facility efficiency and operational processes. Liezl holds a Master’s Degree (cum laude) in Planning Buildings for Health at the Medical Architecture Research Unit (MARU) from London’s South Bank University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Science at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
