He is a graduate of the University of Ceylon and holds a Masters Degree in Irrigation Engineering from the University of Southampton, U.K. and a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has been engaged in the feasibility studies, design, construction and operation and maintenance of irrigation works of the Mahaweli Project during 1971 – 1995. From 1996- 2009, he was employed at LHI and functioned as a Chief Engineer, General Manager, and as Senior Consultant . During the last 3 ½ years he has been functioning as the Deputy Team Leader/ Senior Design Engineer of the Dam Safety and Operational Efficiency Improvement Project for Pöyry Energy. He is at present a Member of the LHI Share Trust.
