Lambert Matheï founded the "Kebabbelefabrikske" for his children in 1930, he hardly dreamed that the company would make this a furore by 2015. Alfons, one of his eight children, had followed a training as a confectioner in Liège at Confiserie Le Vainqueur. "Le Vainqueur" gave the inspiration for the name of their own confectionery "De Palm" (the honorary palm awarded to the victor). The company was located in the center of Bilzen on the Kattebroekstraat 1. The range originally consisted of all kinds of craftsmanship, such as drops, liqueur bacon, gums, bacon, cuberdons, etc. until the transition to hard sugar in 1965.
