Karl founded his first start-up in 1990 and sold it to Microsoft in 1995, the first of many successes he would achieve in the IT industry. 15 years as CEO of technology companies resulted in three personal trade sale exits, two trade sale exits on behalf of external investors, the leadership and preparation of two companies for IPO, and recognition as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum in 2004. In 2006 Karl turned his attention to the cleantech industry, selling his first cleantech company to Deutsche Post DHL in 2009. He then moved to the UAE where he started Neutral Fuels, and is now expanding it across the APMEA region. Karl was awarded Innovator of the Year 2011 by LOG Magazine for his work in pioneering energy and carbon savings in the Middle East. A multi-talented polymath, Karl is equally at home in the boardroom, in hi-tech and marketing circles, in front of the cameras of broadcasters such as CNN and the BBC, and amongst a loyal staff, many of whom have chosen to work with him for 10 years and more. He has an enviable ability to make highly technical concepts easy to understand and to translate them into commercial products.
