Biography

 Prior to AC Immune, Dr. Wettstein was Vice President in Neuroscience with Roche Pharmaceuticals in Basel where he oversaw R&D activities associated with programs designed to discover drugs for patients covering a range of brain disorders including Parkinson’s, schizophrenia, Huntington’s, Down syndrome, Alzheimer’s, autism, bipolar disorder, depression and Fragile X. As Head of Systems Pharmacology, CNS Research at Aventis he played a critical role in the discovery of the immunomodulatory drug teriflunomide (Aubagio®) for multiple sclerosis. Dr. Wettstein holds a PhD from the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky and was a Postdoctoral Fellow then Instructor at Harvard Medical School.
