Mr. Joseph A. Akers was the President of Bayer Healthcare Hematology/Cardiology Business Unit of Bayer HealthCare AG from 2004 to 2007. Mr. Akers was an Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative and Financial Officer of Bayer Corporation since 1999. He was the Chief Executive Officer and President of Business Services LLC and Bayer Corporation. He served as Executive Vice President of Bayer HealthCare LLC of Bayer Corporation. He joined Bayer in Berkeley, California, in 1970. Mr. Akers joined Bayer's Diagnostics Division in Tarrytown, New York, in 1992, where he served as the Senior Vice President and head of the Europe Region and Senior Vice President, Finance, Controlling and Administration. He has extensive executive and financial experience. He served as president and Chief Executive Officer of Bayer Business and Corporate Services and held numerous other financial and executive positions during his 37-year career with Bayer. Mr. Akers has been Director of Actavis Pharma, Inc. since May 1999. He has been an Independent Director at Titan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since November 11, 2014. He serves as Director of California Healthcare Institute. He serves as Director of POINT Biomedical Corp. He served as Director of Haemacure Corp. since April 4, 2007. He served as a Director of Omrix Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. from October 31, 2006 to January 19, 2007. Mr. Akers holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of California at Berkeley.
