Biography

 Jose Yao Campos, Yao Cho Diat in Chinese, is the founder and former chairman of United Laboratories Inc., Unilab Group of Companies, and Greenfield Group of Companies. He started Unilab as a small corner drugstore in Manila in 1945 and, with the help of Mariano K. Tan and Arsenio Ong, transformed it to become one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Unilab manufactures over 300 prescription and consumer health brands covering common illnesses and major diseases. The company is also regarded as largest drug-manufacturing conglomerate in the country with revenues reaching P20 billion in 2005.

Research Intrest

 The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) conferred on Campos the distinction of being the “Father of the Philippine Pharmaceutical Industry” during the association's 99th Annual Convention on May 20, 2006 for providing Filipinos with better access to quality and affordable healthcare. He was also cited for establishing close ties between medical professionals and healthcare institutions in the Philippines and for supporting programs on medical education and service to communities. Campos was in constant support of various charitable institutions and causes, from sports and education, to housing and livelihood. He even involved the company in his advocacies joining relief efforts to victims of disasters and calamities.
