Biography

Dr. John H. Noseworthy, M.D. serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Mayo Clinic Health System. Dr. Noseworthy has been the Chief Executive Officer and President at Mayo Clinic since 2009. Dr. Noseworthy is Professor of Neurology at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He has been Consultant of Department of Neurology since 1992. He is specialized in multiple sclerosis. He served as Medical Director of Development of Mayo Clinic from 2006 to 2009. He joined Mayo in 1990 and served as its Chair of the Department of Neurology from 1997 to 2006. He served as an Editor-in-Chief of Neurology Journal at The American Academy of Neurology from 2007 to 2009. Dr. Noseworthy served as Mayo Clinic Rochester Executive Board from 2006 to 2009. He served as Vice Chairman of the Executive Board at Mayo Clinic from 2006 to 2009 and also served as its Member of the Executive Board. He served as Chief Executive Officer and President of MayoClinic.com. He has been a Director of Merck & Co., Inc. since May 23, 2017. He has been a Trustee of Mayo Clinic since 2009 and serves as its Member of Board of Governors. He serves as an Internal Trustee at Mayo Clinic Health Systems. He has written and edited several books on the disease. He attended Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and University of Western Ontario. Dr. Noseworthy earned his medical degree from medical school at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He completed his neurology training at Dalhousie University and the University of Western Ontario and a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He has received the Alumnus of the Year award from Dalhousie University, an honorary doctorate of science degree from the University of Western Ontario and an honorary doctorate of laws from Dalhousie University.
