Biography

 John Chung, M.D. is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon.  He obtained his undergraduate degree from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California.  He received his postgraduate medical training at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, graduating with honors and an invitation into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for his excellence in academics and leadership. Dr. Chung completed a Family Practice residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando where he received the Family Practice Academic Excellence award, Resident Teacher of the Year award, and the Family Physician of the Year award. Subsequently, he pursued a Dermatology Residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he served as Chief Resident and scored in the top 1% on his national board exam. Dr. Chung pursued advanced fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the esteemed Scripps Clinic & Research Foundation in La Jolla, California. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Chung has received numerous awards in teaching, art and chemistry as well as being chosen as alumnus of the year from Pacific Union College.  In 2003, he was inducted into the prestigious Thomas P. Ryan Hall of Fame by his former high school district (class of ’80) for outstanding professional and public achievement. Dr. Chung has been in private practice since 1996 and has expanded throughout Northwest Georgia and Southeast Tennessee to meet the growing demand for expert medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology services.  He frequently lectures to medical, professional, and civic groups about skin cancer, skin care, and surgical procedures. Despite his busy clinical practice, he finds time to be active in his church, spend time with family and friends, and have weekly Bible study with his patients and friends.
