Biography

As Southland’s President of Construction, Mr. Culbertson provides leadership for all functions in the company’s existing regional divisions, and delivers overall company thought leadership and direction for Southland’s construction efforts. Focusing on driving sustainable growth and long-term performance, he is also responsible for developing members of Southland’s regional leadership teams. With nearly 45 years of experience in the industry, Mr. Culbertson’s areas of expertise range from construction management and business development to innovative installation and integration of cutting edge technology. Having previously served as CEO of TCM, a wholly owned subsidiary of Southland Industries, he is well versed in strategic business development and growth, as well as ensuring every project and initiative is executed with integrity and accountability.   Mr. Culbertson began his career in the field installing HVAC systems before moving on to project management, followed by construction management and business management. Assuming complete management responsibilities of TCM when his father retired in 1986, he became acting president and CEO. Mr. Culbertson received his bachelor's degree in business from Oregon State University, as well as completed a four-year apprenticeship in the sheet metal trade union. He is also actively involved in industry organizations such as the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association, and recently retired after serving for nine years on the Oregon State Mechanical Board.
