Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MD) by University of Cantabria, and Internal Medicine Specialist. Trained and experienced in Health Sector Management. In 2001 he carried out the Executive Master in Health Policy and Health Organizations Management by the Instituto de Empresa, as well as the Executive Master in Health Institutions Management by the Antonio de Nebrija University in 2002. Lecturer at the Universities of Castilla La Mancha and Carlos III of Madrid. Currently he is Coordinator of the Module of economic impact of Personalized Medicine in the biomedical R&D and Healthcare Systems at the University of Barcelona. Lecturer in several EPHOS Master programs. School of PharmaStudies of Madrid (Pharma Industry Management); MBA in Pharma and Biotech Companies; Master in Clinical Trials Monitoring and Management; Master in Industrial Pharmacy and Drug Registration; Master in Clinical Research and Pharmaceutical Medicine. Also Lecturer at the Higher Management Programme of Healthcare and Public Health Public-Private Partnership Models of the Instituto de Empresa (IE). Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Cantabria. Recognized, for his professional career, “Distinguished Alumni” by the University of Cantabria in February 2014. He was awarded several distinctions such as the Gold Medal of the Ilustre Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Cantabria; the Silver Medal of Spanish Red Cross; and the Order of Internacional Merit for Blood Donation (FIODS, Tunisia). He has authored numerous articles, books, publications, communications, conferences and professional speeches. Member of the Board of Directors of Spanish Society for Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics (SEFF). Instituto Roche Director since November 2003.
