Hendrik Jan Ankersmit is the scientific founder of Aposcience AG. He is a cardiac and thoracic surgeon working at the Medical University of Vienna at the Vienna General Hospital. He was laboratory head of the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Diagnosis & Regeneration of Cardiac and Thoracic Diseases (funding period: 2009 – 15). Currently, he is heading the FFG-project "APOSEC" (runtime: 2015-2018). His research interests are biomarkers for lung and heart diseases as well as the prevention of cardiac remodeling following myocardial infarction (MI) and wound healing with innovative cell based strategies.
