Hans-Joachim Müller holds a PhD in Chemistry from the LMU (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität) university in Munich, one of Europe's premier academic and research institutions. He also obtained a research fellowship at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). Müller joined Azelis from a leading speciality chemicals company where he sat on the Executive Committee. His responsibilities included the business units Catalysis & Energy, Emulsions, Detergents & Intermediates and Oil & Mining Services. Prior to this, he was a Member of the Managing Board and Head of the Catalytic Technologies global Business Unit at a company specialising in catalysts and adsorbents. His professional career started at a German chemicals company and continued in Hong Kong, where he was where he was overseeing and inorganics business in Asia-Pacific. As Group CEO, Hans-Joachim Müller is ultimately responsible for achieving the financial returns set by the shareholders and for implementing the strategic direction set by the Board. Müller is married with 3 children and lives in Munich, Germany. In his free time he likes running and he is passionate about old travel books.
His international experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study. His research interests reflect in his wide range of publications in various national and international journals.
