Dr. Goran A. Ando, M.D. has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novo Nordisk A/S since March 20, 2013. He was Vice Chairman of the Company's Board from March 8, 2006 until March 20, 2013, and he has been Member of the Board of the Company since March 9, 2005. He has been Chairman of the Nomination Committee of the Company since April 2013 and he is Chairman of the Research & Development Committee. He was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Celltech Group plc in the United Kingdom until 2004. He joined Celltech from Pharmacia (currently Pfizer) where he was Executive Vice President and President of Research and Development with additional responsibilities for manufacturing, Information Technology, business development and Mergers & Acquisitions from 1995 to 2003. From 1989 to 1995, he was Medical Director, moving to Deputy Research and Development Director, and then Research and Development Director of Glaxo Group in the United Kingdom. He was also Member of the Glaxo Group Executive Committee.
