Dr Schwab (60) is President Product Development and Medical Affairs and chief medical officer Exelixis Inc, where she has held several leading positions since 2006. She has also held the position of Senior Vice President and chief medical officer at Abgenix Inc, a human antibody-based drug development company. Her background includes different positions at Amgen Inc, most recently as Director of Clinical Research and Haematology/Oncology Therapeutic Area Team Leader. Dr Schwab has served as a director of the board of Topotarget A/S, a publicly-held biopharmaceutical company. She currently serves as director of the board of Cellerant Therapeutics Inc, a privately held biopharmaceutical company. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Heidelberg, trained at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda Maryland, USA, and is board certified in intemal medicine and haematology and oncology.
