Biography

Rich brings three decades of healthcare product marketing and distribution experience in over 20 countries. A Vietnam-era U.S. Navy hospital corpsman, Rich has held positions as president, general manager, chief operating officer, vice president of marketing and vice president of development in several VC-funded successful healthcare startups and turnarounds, publicly and privately-held.  ​His medical marketing experience includes clinical laboratory automation, diagnostics, information systems, lasers, nanotechnology, and several medical devices such as endoscopes.  Rich was a mentor for Arizona State University (ASU) and the University of Texas Dallas, advised several startups, and won a 2012 grant from the Arizona Commerce Authority to research biomarkers of metabolic diseases. Weitzel’s clients and customers have included The Cleveland Clinic, Kaiser Permanente, Intel, Harvard, Sandia National Laboratories, and hundreds of hospitals, clinics, laboratories, universities, physicians and researchers, worldwide.
