Biography

Dr Zebelman earned a BS in chemistry from the University of Illinois and a MA in physical chemistry and a PhD in nuclear chemistry from Columbia University. He had postdoctoral appointments at Columbia, the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in Berkeley, CA and was a senior fellow at the University of Washington in Clinical Chemistry. Dr Zebelman holds boards from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry in clinical and toxicological chemistry. Dr Zebelman was the director of chemistry at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Martinez, CA, and was an adjunct professor of laboratory medicine at the University of California, Davis. In 1981, Dr Zebelman moved to Seattle to join the Laboratory of Pathology at the Swedish Hospital Medical Center which later became the Laboratory of Pathology of Seattle and then Dynacare Laboratories and today is part of Laboratory Corporation of America, where he serves as the technical director for the Pacific Northwest and is an associate vice president. He frequently consults with physicians, clinicians, and from time to time, patients, about laboratory results and services. Dr Zebelman has been active in the College of American Pathologists since 1977. He is currently the Toxicology Commissioner for the Forensic Drug Testing Program and is a member of the College’s Toxicology Resource Committee.
