Biography

  Dr. Anil Jasinghe has obtained his primary education from the Mahinda College Galle and secondary education from the Ananda College Colombo-10. He joined medical administration as the Medical Superintendent of the Provincial Hospital, Badulla in Sri Lanka in 1996. Then he became the Deputy Director of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka in charge of the Accident and Orthopaedic Service and served there at the height of the terrorism.  In 2009 he became the Director, Colombo South Teaching Hospital. At present he holds the post of the Deputy Director General, National Hospital of Sri Lanka. Dr Jasinghe was instrumental in establishing the Trauma Secretariat under the Ministry of Health and became its Founder Head. Formation of the Trauma Secretariat paved the way for a systematic approach in management of trauma. He was one of the steering committee members which pioneered "The Colombo Emergency and Rescue Service" also known as "110". In the field of injury and trauma Dr Anil Jasinghe had a special liking towards the burning issue of Road Traffic Injuries where he has contributed nationally and internationally. He was trained in the field of disaster management in prestigious centers in US and Israel. Dr Anil Jasinghe graduated from Lvov State Medical Institute in the former Soviet Union and holds postgraduate qualifications Msc Community Medicine and MD Medical Administration from Postgraduate Institute of Medicine in Sri Lanka. In 2011 he obtained the degree Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Postgraduate Institute of Management of Sri Jayewardenepura University.  He has done many presentations in national and international forums and, has contributed to local and international journals. In the College of Medical administrators he has served in the capacities of council member, Editor, Secretary, Vice President, President elect and President. He was the President of the College of the Medical Administrators of Sri Lanka which is the professional body for the medical administrators of the state and private sectors. In 2011 he was conferred with the Fellowship(FCMA) by the College of Medical administrators. Not only is he an administrator but a devoted teacher too. He is serving as a Visiting Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Visiting Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sri Jayawardenepura, Visiting Lecturer, Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo, Visiting Lecturer,  the Army Command Staff College in Sri Lanka. Visiting Lecturer, National Disaster Centre and serve as an Examiner in Diploma Course in Disaster Management and Mitigation, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. His sound academic ability is reflected on various academic papers published and few are namely,     A Prevalence study of Filariasis in two field assistant areas in medical officer of health area-Kelaniya 2000, A descriptive Analysis of Transfers of Patients to Accident Service, National Hospital of Sri Lanka from other hospitals during the month of June 2001, Injury; an Overview in 2004,Pre Hospital Care: Why It Is Vital, "Pedestrian Trauma" Hospital Preparedness for Mass Casualty Situations in 2006,"Lets Partner for Our safety" , A descriptive analysis of trauma patients triaged to Resuscitation Room of Accident service-NHSL, War on the roads: Road Traffic Injuries in 2011.
