Biography

Darren Mort is general manager for Bechtel’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) business line within the company’s Oil, Gas & Chemicals business. He was elected a senior vice president in 2014. Previously, he was operations manager for the LNG business line. Darren has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, construction, contracts, and business development across four continents and industries including transportation, energy, oil and gas, and mining. He joined Bechtel in 2000, and served as a chartered civil engineer in both the Civil and Power businesses. Darren held various roles in construction supervision, field engineering, proposals, and contracts on the motorway projects in Europe, eventually serving as project manager on the Albanian and Kosovo motorway projects. In 2012, Darren managed execution of the 2-train APLNG project, part of the historic Curtis Island LNG program Bechtel built in Queensland. Darren actively supports Bechtel’s stewardship program and volunteer teams, and has chaired the Stewardship Advisory Council from 2012 to 2013. In 2007, he served on a British Red Cross relief team supporting the 2004 Asian Tsunami Recovery program in the Maldives, as well as a capacity-building volunteer in Uganda. Darren has a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, and a post graduate diploma and certificate in construction law and arbitration from University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University, respectively.
