Biography

 Charles founded MFG Chemical in 1981. He has served as Chairman of the Board since the company’s founding and has also held the titles of President and CEO prior to his son, Chuck, assuming those roles. With Chuck’s passing on Dec. 25, 2015, Charles resumed the duties of CEO.   Prior to founding MFG, Charles had an illustrious career in the carpet industry. He served as Vice President of Manufacturing for Columbus Mills, Inc., and as Vice President and Director of Dyeing for Coronet Industries. Earlier Charles was Plant manager for Rossville Carpet Dyeing Corporation and Technical manager for Allied Chemical Corporation. He started his career with Cabin Crafts, a division of West Point Pepperell and served as Superintendent of Carpet dyeing. He graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Textile Management (dyeing Option).   In 1978, Charles completed the executive MBA Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a past president of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, a past Chairman of the Board of its’ Foundation and later served as Treasurer for each organization. He received the Harold C. Chapin Award for industry service in 2002.   Charles is a member of the Auburn Alumni Engineering Council and a member the President’s Circle of the 1856 Society. Auburn recognized him in 2003 as an Outstanding Alumnus in Textile Engineering, and in 2014 honored him with the Distinguished Auburn Engineer Award.   Charles was recently inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame for his prowess in the textile engineering and chemical process industries.
