Bill Abington is a Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations leading its Energy practice, with more than 25 years of experience in providing dispute analysis, financial investigations and audit services. His dispute services have included domestic and international litigation, including oil and gas, and electric power disputes. He has also consulted in purchase price adjustments and claims preparation.Mr. Abington has testified in trial and arbitration in many venues. He has performed investigations for internally identified company matters, as well as in response to inquiries made by governmental oversight and regulatory organizations.He has led projects involving accounting reconstruction, lost profit analysis, fraud investigations, valuation analysis, financial compliance with contract, merger and acquisition analysis and claims preparation and review. His analyses have included compilation and review of underlying records, data sets, transactional information, contracts and regulatory requirements. He is experienced in taking complex issues and presenting findings and solutions in an easily understood manner. Mr. Abington has testified in federal courts and in state courts across the U.S. and in international arbitration matters. He has presented analysis findings to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, the Department of Interior, the Commodities Futures Trade Commission, the Mineral Management Service, state auditors and Indian tribe representatives. He has also presented findings to audit committees and boards of directors of publicly-held companies, as well as to management of private companies.He has served as an independently appointed accounting expert and as the arbitrator in accounting-related disputes. Additionally, he served as Trustee over a nuclear waste site, responsible for clean-up activities and coordination with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, other governmental agencies and other stakeholders.Before A&M, he was a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, leading their financial advisory practice in the energy industry.Mr. Abington earned a bachelor's degree, with honors, from Texas State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Petroleum Accountants Society of Houston and American Bar Association’s Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law.
