Bert Amison is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Healthcare Industry Group in Dallas. He specializes in regulatory compliance, revenue cycle operations, financial systems implementations, and strategic planning. His primary area of concentration lies in assisting hospital organizations with the integration of regulatory compliance and business processes, particularly within the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) space.Mr. Amison brings more than 20 years of experience in dealing with regulatory compliance, revenue cycle operations, financial systems implementations and strategic planning. The most current focus during the last 11 years has been on assisting hospital organizations with the integration of regulatory compliance and business processes, particularly within the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) space. He conducted several process improvement engagements to enhance cash collection, patient access, billing and collections, payor contracting and dash-board reporting for key success indicators. He implemented financial, executive management and front and back office applications for a leading hospital information systems vendor in several acute care inpatient-based facilities. Furthermore, he worked with an integrated health system where he conducted systems risk assessments, remediation plan development, and implementation related to potential Y2K issues.Before A&M, Mr. Amison was a Managing Director at KPMG’s Healthcare Advisory practice. He led their CDI practice, known as Inpatient Documentation Integrity, and assisted multiple hospitals including large multi-facility systems with documentation compliance regarding CMS rules and regulations. He has implemented several CDI programs across the country and has assisted more than 70 hospitals with some component of their CDI program. In addition, he provided clients with compliance program assistance; independent review organization; contract compliance audits; business office improvement and related process reporting engagements; systems implementations; and systems risk assessment. Mr. Amison earned a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. He is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE).
