Axel performed his MD thesis at the surgical manometry laboratory (Medical University Vienna) and, as a member of the VIETAC lab, is currently working on his PhD within the program for organ failure-, replacement and transplantation (POeT). He started his clinical education as a transplant coordinator and continued from 2010 as a resident at the department of thoracic surgery and Nephrology at the General Hospital Vienna.
