Artur Pereira is CEO of Angola LNG Marketing Ltd, a company based in London, responsible for the global marketing of LNG from the 5.2 mtpa Angola LNG plant along with managing the shipping of all LNG cargoes and the sale of liquids from the project. Artur has over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Immediately prior to his current position, Artur played a leading role in both the establishment of Sonangol’s gas business – taking up a key position in Sonangol Gás Natural Ltd (“Sonagas”) - and in the implementation of the Angola LNG Project. In his role of Director of Business Development for Sonagas, Artur managed the reorganization of the Sonangol’s downstream gas business including the integration into Sonagas of Angola’s domestic butane business and project managed a major fertilizer investment in Angola. At the same time, for the Sonangol group, he was project director for a major refinery and petrochemical investment in China. Artur has been a key player in the development of Angola LNG since its inception in the 1990s making him one of the project’s pioneers. He managed Sonangol’s Angola LNG Project Commercial Group from conceptual development through to the final investment decision and led many project activities; negotiating on behalf of both Sonagas and, in representing the project with government authorities, the project’s shareholders. He has remained active within Angola LNG ever since. In holding various senior management positions with the oil and gas upstream division of Sonangol EP, Artur has managed a wide range of activities including leadership of the economic evaluation department for all the oil concessions in Angola and of commercial negotiations of the Production Sharing Contracts and Joint Operating Agreements for those concessions. He has also served as a Board and committee member of various joint venture partnerships and industry organisations. Alongside his responsibilities in Sonangol, Artur sat on the committee charged with restructuring the Angolan Securities Market Commission. Artur holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and has participated in several executive programs including the Executive MBA at Kellogg University.
