Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Author of several scientific publications. Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical Academy of Latvia in 1993. Student on the maxillofacial surgery residency programme at the Medical Academy of Latvia from 1994 until 1999. Studied at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Medical Academy of Latvia from 1995 until 1997. Obtained certificate of maxillofacial surgeon in 1999. Certified as a dentist in 2000. In 2005 passed MRCSEd examination at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2007 obtained a TEMPUS JEP Master's Degree No.04962 in the master's curriculum Biological Materials and Biomechanics. 1997 - post-doctoral training at Toronto Western Hospital of the University of Toronto.1998 – post-doctoral training at Sahlgrenska Hospital and Branemark Implantology Clinic of the University of Gothenburg. 1999 – post-doctoral training at the Hospital of the University of Helsinki. Regularly attends qualification improvement seminars and courses, and gives lectures at Latvian and international conferences.
