Ludwig Cancer Research is a global community of leading scientists pursuing innovative ways to prevent and control cancer. From basic research to clinical trials, in individual laboratories or as part of international teams, our researchers are tackling the hardest questions, spotting the connections and the possibilities. At Ludwig, we test our work against the one measure that matters — improving human health. As Director of the Small Molecule Discovery Program, I lead a highly collaborative, systematic effort to use chemical biology to translate the cutting-edge research of Ludwig scientists into new cancer medicines. Before joining Ludwig in 2009, I was Director of Biology at Kalypsys, where I supervised teams that helped advance multiple projects in metabolic diseases, pain/inflammation, ophthalmologic disorders, and oncology to the clinical stage. Before that I was head of the Orphan Nuclear Receptor Program at Tularik. I received my PhD in biochemistry and biophysics from the University of California, San Francisco.
