Biography

 Andrea has managed various discovery alliances with biotech and academia in the field of Oncology. Previously, Andrea was Proof-of-Concept Team Leader for Schering-Plough's Immune Oncology portfolio. Between 2007–2009, he served as Head of Oncology Biologics Discovery for Organon, Cambridge, MA USA, previously he was involved in the foundation of the Organon Research Center in Cambridge. Prior to his industry career, Andrea was in academia, where he was awarded a KWF (Dutch Cancer Society) fellowship, allowing him to study manipulation of T cell co-stimulation using antibodies blocking CTLA-4 for the treatment of cancer at the University of California in Berkeley, CA, USA. He is a co-inventor on the original patents that formed the basis for the development of ipilimumab, an approved, first-line therapy for metastatic melanoma. Andrea gained a PhD from Leiden University Medical Center (NL) in 1996.  He is a co-founder of Bionovion.
