Alan Hoffman is responsible for overseeing Herbalife Nutrition’s public policy, corporate communications, government and regulatory affairs, community relations and philanthropy. He is also responsible for the global content group, an organization charged with developing a cohesive global strategy for the Company as well as producing materials for Herbalife Nutrition’s corporate and regional teams. Hoffman brings more than 25 years of public policy, communications and government experience to the global corporate affairs role. Most recently, he served as senior vice president for global public policy at PepsiCo, where he oversaw policy development, external relations and government affairs. Before joining PepsiCo, Hoffman served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Vice President of the United States and Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States, where he was responsible for the long-term planning and day-to-day operations of the Vice President's office. In this role, he provided policy, political, communications, legislative and legal advice to the Vice President, Cabinet members and administration staff. Hoffman had previously served as Chief of Staff to Senator Joe Biden from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2006 to 2008. During this second period, he also served as senior presidential campaign advisor to Senator Biden. Following the Presidential election in 2008, Hoffman also served as chief operating officer for then Vice President-elect Biden during the Presidential Transition. Hoffman previously served as senior vice president for external relations for the University of California (“UC”), directing strategy, communications, marketing, advocacy, government relations, fundraising and community relations for the 10 campuses, five medical centers and three national labs that comprise the UC system. He also spent time as a partner at Timmons & Company, a Washington, D.C. government relations and consulting firm, and as vice president for external relations at the RAND Corporation. Earlier in his career, Hoffman served in the Clinton White House working on health policy issues. In addition, he worked in the Department of Health and Human Services as special assistant to the assistant secretary for legislative affairs and in the Department of Justice as special counsel to the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs. He also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia, where he prosecuted federal crimes for the Justice Department. Hoffman serves on the board of directors for the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the Partnership for a Drug Free America and the Herbalife Family Foundation. A Philadelphia native, Hoffman holds a Juris Doctorate and Masters of Public Administration from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Lizzie, son Jackson, and two dogs, Brinkley and Franklin.
