Akihiko Kumagai is President and CEO of GE Yokogawa Medical Systems, Ltd. Kumagai assumed this position on June 1 2007 and is based in Tokyo, Japan.Kumagai joined GE in 1984. He served in a variety of commercial, marketing and product management positions at GE's material businesses including GE Super abrasives and GE Plastics in the Pacific before being named General Manager of Global Accounts, GE Plastics Americas in 1998. He was named President of GE Plastics Japan in January 2001 and was named President and CEO of GE Toshiba Silicones, a Pacific based global operation of GE's silicones business, a part of GE - Advanced Materials in November 2001. And in February 2006, he was named President and CEO of GE Consumer Finance Co., Ltd., and Company Officer of General Electric Company. Before joining GE, Kumagai worked for Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in Japan for five years. Kumagai is a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics.
