Biography

 With about two decades of experience, Dr. AbdulSalam Al-Qahtani currently heads the Department of Otolaryngology. He is also the Director of ORL-HNs Training at Hamad Medical Cooperation Doha- Qatar. Additionally, Dr. Al-Qahtani assumes several honorary posts such as Clinical Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar as well as Board Member and Head of Medical Commttee at Qatar Red Crescent Society.   Graduating from the School of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt, some 19 years ago with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Qahtani acquired his Arab Board of Medical Specialization in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in December 2000.   Driven by his academic background, experience and active involvement in Qatar social development and health welfare, Dr. Abdul Salam was promoted to the post of Consultant and later was appointed as the Acting Head of ORL-HNS (ENT) Section. He has been teaching resident and medical student since 2000 and was appointed as clinical Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar in 2012.   Over the years, he has worked extensively with medical programs such as the Cochlear Implant Program, where he served as Organizer and Surgeon. He has been the Program Training Director of Otolaryngology, as well as an Arab Board Representative of Otolaryngology, and a member of Qatar Medical License Committee. Moreover, Dr. Al-Qahtani has conducted research in his field of specialty, he was appointed as Vice Chairman of Arab Board of Medical Specialization in ORL-HNS (ENT) February 2013.   Given his medical background, and active participation in the field of humanitarian work as well as his volunteering with QRC, he was nominated for membership of the Board of Directors at Qatar Red Crescent and the Haj Mission Committee in 2005 that he headed for a considerable time. He also oversees a number of QRC's medical centers and other vital medical committees, including QRC's Emergency Standing Committee. Dr. Al-Qahtani has also held a number of health education programs and was a presenter and a guest of several medical education television programs that lasted for three years.
